VISITING HOURS

SYNOPSIS

The film, starring Isabelle Huppert in one of the leading roles, follows the lives of two very different women. Alma lives alone in her huge city house, while Ona is a single mother in a social housing program in another city. What they have in common is that both have organized their lives around visits to their husbands in prison. When they meet in a room outside the one where the visits take place, a friendship is born that no one could have expected.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Born in Dijon in 1960, Patricia Mazuy was a good student who aspired to attend the Louis Lumière Film School, but she entered HEC Business School to fulfil her father’s wishes, a baker. There, she confirmed her love of westerns and thrillers, discovered The Doors, who were already dead, and left school for Los Angeles. There, she shot a short film on her salary as a babysitter and met Agnès Varda and her editor Sabine Mamou. Three years later, Mamou hired her as a trainee on A Room in Town by Jacques Demy, and finally, she learned about cinema. After editing Vagabond by Agnès Varda, she turned her attention to her first film, Thick Skinned, in 1989. Her notable works include Saint-Cyr (2000), Sports de filles (2011), and Visiting Hours (La Prisonnière de Bordeaux).
