LIGHT OF THE FIREFLY is a multimedia walking tour through the past and present of Staro Sajmište in Belgrade, where the German Gestapo established a concentration camp in 1941.
The walks you are about to take were created by a group of Serbian high school students, 80 years after the first prisoners arrived at the camp. The app explores the history of persecution during World War II and presents the various historical phases of Staro Sajmište, from its establishment to the present day. It is designed as a guided tour of the site, so we recommend using it while you are there in person.
The app is interactive, and a series of questions and tasks will appear along the way. By completing them on location, you will gain a deeper understanding of this significant and complex place.
The app is available for Android and Apple mobile phones. For the full experience, we recommend using headphones, as you would with an audio guide.

The main purpose of the guide is to provide readers with a historical overview of Staro Sajmište through all five of its phases, from its establishment to the present day.
It was created as additional educational material to be used alongside the app, offering readers detailed information about the history, events, and people who were connected to Staro Sajmište in different ways.
The guide also includes questions and activities, statements from participants in the Light of the Firefly project, photographs taken while creating the app’s content, as well as links to videos showcasing the participants’ various artistic expressions and their efforts to tell the story of Staro Sajmište.
