HYSTERIA

SYNOPSIS

When a copy of the Quran is burned during the shooting of a film scene, a multi-ethnic film crew is thrown into turmoil. What at first appears to be an ordinary and harmless incident on set unleashes a chain of suspicions, stereotypes, distrust, and accusations among the crew members. Caught in the crossfire, assistant director Elif becomes entangled in a dangerous game of secrets and lies, finding herself at the very heart of a conspiracy.
This gripping thriller delivers a strong and unexpected twist, shedding a piercing light on the power of images and the dynamics of perception, projection, and social hysteria. The film received the Europa Cinemas Label Award at the Berlinale 2025.
