JULIE KEEPS QUIET
Julie is a quiet teenager, shy on all fields except the tennis courts where she shines as a real, undefeatable star. Julie keeps quiet in every aspect of her life, especially about issues that directly affect her. She stayed quiet when her teachers encouraged her to speak up when she fell behind on schoolwork. She was also quiet when her club administration pleaded with her to speak up after a longtime coach had fallen under investigation. The film masterfully depicts a troubled child’s inner state, revealing the small things we sometimes can’t notice. It delves into the seemingly harmless questions that hold the answers, but most of all, it highlights the trust and the time it takes for children to open up. We all have our inner demons, only for children, those demons can sometimes be larger than us.
