THE MARCHING BAND
The main character of this film is the renowned conductor Thibaut, who discovers that he has leukaemia. To be cured, he urgently needs a voluntary bone marrow donor. While searching for a solution to his situation, he first learns that he was adopted as a child and eventually finds his older brother, who, by coincidence, is also a musician. His brother is a member of a local orchestra, even though he works in a factory. Their meeting and reunion, set against the backdrop of the factory’s closure, spark an unexpected brotherly musical journey, accompanied throughout the film by the music of Charles Aznavour.
French actor, screenwriter, and director Emmanuel Courcol was born on December 25, 1957, in Angers. After numerous roles in feature films, he turned to screenwriting and, in 2001, wrote the script for Mademoiselle (dir. Philippe Lioret). For the film Welcome (2010), he was nominated for a César Award for Best Original Screenplay.
He made his directorial debut in 2016 with Ceasefire, while his second film, The Big Hit (2020), won the European Film Award for Best Comedy.
