THREE KILOMERES TO THE END OF THE WORLD

SYNOPSIS

Adi (17) spends the summer in his home village in the Danube Delta. One night, he is brutally attacked on the street, and the next day, his world is turned upside-down. His parents no longer look at him as they did, and the seeming tranquility of the village starts to crack.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Emanuel Pârvu was born in 1979 in Romania. He graduated from the Romanian National University for Theater and Film and holds an MA in Acting and a PhD in Dramaturgical Structures. He works as an actor, film, theater director, and writer. He is known for his roles in Cristian Mungiu’s Graduation (2016) and Tales from the Golden Age (2009). He has written and directed several short films before his feature debut, Meda or the Not So Bright Side of Things (2017), which world premiered in the Official Competition of the Sarajevo International Film Festival, winning the Best Director and Best Actor Award. In 2019, his short Everything is Far Away was listed among the 94 shorts qualifying for the 2020 Academy Awards. His sophomore feature, Mikado, premiered in San Sebastian’s New Directors Competition in 2021.
